S-AR es un taller colaborativo de Arquitectura Alternativa fundado en Monterrey, México, en el 2006. Actualmente la oficina de desarrollo de proyectos se encuentra en San Pedro Garza García, en el Área Metropolitana de Monterrey y una oficina de vinculación de proyectos se ubica en la Ciudad de México.
El trabajo de S-AR se enfoca en el diseño y desarrollo de proyectos de Arquitectura de diversas tipologías y escalas para generar obras arquitectónicas significativas, que hagan una profunda investigación en el uso de materiales, tecnologías adecuadas, habitabilidad y sistemas sociales alrededor del acto del diseño y la construcción de espacios. Nuestro trabajo abarca investigaciones desde diseño urbano, espacio público y arquitectura hasta diseño de mobiliario y objetos, además de la generación de proyectos editoriales independientes sobre temas de Arquitectura.
Entre los reconocimientos que S-AR ha obtenido destacan el Emerging Voices Award otorgado por The Architectural League of New York (Nueva York, E.U.A.), el Design Vanguard Award de Architectural Record (Nueva York, E.U.A.), el Dwell Design Award de Dwell Magazine (San Francisco, E.U.A.), el Blueprint Award de Blueprint Magazine (Londres, Inglaterra), el 1er. Lugar en el XXI Premio Obras Cemex (México), el Award of Merit en los AZ Awards (Toronto, Cánada), la Beca Jóvenes Creadores del FONCA – CONACULTA (Consejo Nacional para la Cultura y las Artes) en Diseño Arquitectónico (México), la Mención Honorífica en los DEAwards – Design Educates Awards (Polonia / Alemania), la Mención Honorífica en los AN Best of Design Awards de The Architect´s Newspaper (Nueva York, E.U.A.), la Mención Honorífica en los Golden Trezzini Awards (San Petersburgo, Rusia), la Mención Honorífica en el Concurso Internacional ARPAFIL (Guadalajara, México), el 1° Lugar del Concurso Nacional «Escuela Primaria del Bicentenario» convocado por el INIFED y la SEP (México) y su participación en la Exposición Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling del MoMA – Museum of Modern Art (Nueva York, E.U.A.). Además fueron finalistas para el Pabellón Eco 2014 del Museo Experimental el Eco (México), finalistas por México en la IX BIAU – Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura y Urbanismo (Rosario, Argentina) y en la XI BIAU – Bienal Iberoamericana de Arquitectura y Urbanismo (Asunción, Paraguay). Han sido seleccionados -Diseñador Emergente- del 2014 en el Presente de las Artes en México de la Revista de Artes La Tempestad (México), seleccionados para representar a México en la BAL – Bienal de Arquitectura Latinoamericana 2015 (Pamplona, España), seleccionados para formar parte del Pabellón de México en la 15 y 16 Muestra Internacional de Arquitectura de la Bienal de Venecia (Venecia, Italia) y seleccionados para presentar su trabajo en la XX Bienal de Arquitectura y Urbanismo de Chile (Valparaíso, Chile), en la BIA-AR – Bienal Internacional de Arquitectura de Argentina (Buenos Aires, Argentina) y en la Bienal MOMENTUM 11 – HOUSE OF COMMONS (Moss/Jeløya, Noruega). S-AR fue seleccionado como uno de los ganadores del concurso internacional Winter Stations 2023 (Toronto, Canadá) y del DNA Paris Design Awards 2023 (París, Francia). Su trabajo ha sido nominado para el MCHAP Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize, organizado por el IIT – Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, E.U.A.).
Su trabajo ha sido parte de las exposiciones YALA – Young Architects in Latin America – La nouvelle architecture en Amérique Latine en el arc en rêve centre d´architecture (Bordeaux, Francia) y el MARQ – Museo de Arquitectura y Diseño (Buenos Aires, Argentina), Häuser für alle en el IFA – Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (Stuttgart, Alemania), Diseñando México – Architettura: Necessità e Libertà en el Festival Internacional de Arquitectura Mantovarchitettura – Politecnico di Milano (Mantova, Italia), entre otras. Así como forma parte de la serie de muestras de la Galería de Diseño y Arquitectura Monoambiente (Buenos Aires, Argentina) y del programa de exposiciones de LIGA Espacio para Arquitectura (Ciudad de México, México).
S-AR ha presentado conferencias en diferentes foros y universidades de México y en el extranjero donde se destacan sus conferencias en la Universidad de Navarra (Pamplona, España), la ETSAB – UPC (Barcelona, España), The Architectural League of New York (Nueva York, E.U.A.), la GSAPP – Columbia University (Nueva York, E.U.A.), la University of Houston (Houston, E.U.A.), el espacio de estudio, debate y difusión sobre arquitectura MONTE 153C (Buenos Aires, Argentina) y en la serie de conferencias de Atelier Piloto (Brasilia, Brasil).
S-AR ha expuesto su trabajo en diversas universidades, foros y exposiciones de Arquitectura y Diseño en México, Chile, Perú, España, Italia, Francia, Alemania, Brasil, Argentina y Estados Unidos. Hasta la fecha ha participado en publicaciones de alcance internacional sobre Arquitectura en México, Chile, Argentina, España, Portugal, Italia, Inglaterra, Suiza, Holanda, Alemania, Austria, Polonia, Eslovenia, Rumanía, Turquía, Corea, China, Japón, Australia y E.U.A. De forma paralela, S-AR lidera la iniciativa Comunidad Vivex, una plataforma para el desarrollo y construcción de proyectos de Arquitectura Social.
S-AR se encarga de seleccionar estudios de arquitectura para conformar y exponer su trabajo en el contenido dedicado a la Arquitectura de la revista AAF – Documentos independientes de Arquitectura, Arte y Fotografía.

S-AR is an architectural design studio based in Mexico (Monterrey and Mexico City).
S-AR is formally established as a professional firm in 2006. Their work focuses on the design and development of architectural projects of several scales and typologies from private, experimental and social houses to architectural installations, educational buildings and design of furniture and other objects including books and independent publications about architecture.
S-AR´s work has been awarded the Emerging Voices Award by The Architectural League of New York (New York, U.S.A., 2016), the Design Vanguard Award by Architectural Record for emerging architects (New York, U.S.A., 2013), the Dwell Design Award by Dwell Magazine for the Best Dwelling (San Francisco, U.S.A., 2020), the Blueprint Award by Blueprint Magazine for the Best Small Project (London, U.K., 2020), the 1st. Place in the XXI Cemex Building National Award 2012 (Mexico, 2012) and the 1st. Place in National Competition “Bicentennial Elementary School” (Mexico, 2008). They received the Young Artists Grant “Jovenes Creadores” CONACULTA – FONCA (Arts and Culture Mexican Council) in the discipline of Architectural Design (Mexico, 2009) and they were part of the exhibition Home Delivery: Fabricating the Modern Dwelling at MoMA – Museum of Modern Art (New York, U.S.A., 2007). The studio received an Award of Merit in the 2020 AZ Awards (Toronto, Canada, 2020), an Honorable Mention in the DEAwards – Design Educates Awards (Poland / Germany, 2023), an Honorable Mention in the AN Best of Design Awards by The Architect´s Newspaper (New York, U.S.A., 2020), an Honorable Mention in the Golden Trezzini Awards (Saint Petersburg, Russia, 2021), an Honorable Mention in the International Competition “Possible Cities” organized by ARPAFIL (Guadalajara, Mexico, 2009) and they were finalist for the Museo Experimental el Eco Pavilion in Mexico City (Mexico, 2014). S-AR has been nominated for the 2014 Ibero-American Architecture Biennial Award (Rosario, Argentina, 2014) and for the 2019 Ibero-American Architecture Biennial Award (Asuncion, Paraguay, 2019), and selected -Emerging Designer- in the Present for the Arts in Mexico by La Tempestad Magazine of Arts (Mexico, 2014), selected to represent Mexico in the BAL – Latin-American Biennial of Architecture (Mexico – Spain – LATAM, 2015), selected to be part of the Mexico´s Pavilion in the 15 and 16 Mostra Internazionale di Architettura di Venezia – 15th and 16th International Architecture Exhibition at the Venice Biennale (Mexico – Italy, 2016 / 2018) and selected to participate in the XX Chilean Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism (Valparaiso, Chile, 2017), the BIA-AR – Argentinean Architecture International Biennial (Buenos Aires, Argentina, 2016) and at the eleventh edition of the Momentum Biennale – MOMENTUM 11 – HOUSE OF COMMONS (Moss/Jeløya, Norway, 2021). S-AR has been selected as one of the winners of the 2023 Winter Stations Competition (Toronto, Canada, 2023) and a DNA Paris Design Awards 2023 Winner (Paris, France). S-AR has been a nominee for the MCHAP Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize held by the IIT – Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago, U.S.A.).

In paralel, S-AR leads a non-profit organization called Comunidad Vivex, a platform for design, development and implementation of Social Architecture projects.
